On deck, nothing can be done without the sailors. Led by Arnaud, the bosun, Jean-Michel, the boatswain, Adrien, the chief mate, the deckhands Jérôme, Léna, Marc, Vianney, Alexandre and Yannick carry out the operations of launching the robots, the OBS, the ROV lift… by day, as well as by night and in almost all weathers. The most delicate manoeuvres are the recoveries: fragile technological packages weighing several hundred kilos for the lightest ones have to be brought back on board.
For the recovery of the ROV, everyone is on the quarterdeck, including the commander and the second captain, who are in charge of the operation. The task is to gently bring Victor back toward the boat, and to deploy mad dexterity to retrieve the guide which must be attached to the crane. The submarine can finally be hoisted aboard and carefully placed on the deck with its precious samples. Then it remains to change the hook of the crane for the next launch.
